Type of work: This client had pitch fibre drains. Pitch fibre drains are made from wood cellulose and coal tar, commonly used in the UK from the 1960s to the 1970s, due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of installation. However, over time these drains can deteriorate and become deformed. This drain ran from the rear of the property, downstream, under his conservatory to a manhole in the chamber located in the front garden. We re-shaped the pitch fibre drains by pulling a reshaping tool through the deformed drain, before installing a polyester lining repair. This avoids the requirement of extensive excavation works to replace the pitch fibre pipe. This would have led to expensive costs as it would have affected the entire property. Also, if you were to repair this in terms of replacing the actual pipes, it would take at least a week to carry out the works and repair the property.
We did the initial drain unblocking and drain survey, initially. We provided a report and an estimate for the requires pitch fibre drain repairs. The actual repair took us a day on-site to complete the works. We provide this service to many domestic and commercial clients throughout Cornwall.
